The external problem that we were presented with for this week’s rehearsal was a tube strike, potentially affecting our cast’s ability to get to Wembley. It was, it seemed, a partial strike, but in particular it seemed to mean that services would stop ay about 10, meaning some of our cast could get to the rehearsal… but not then home afterwards. In the event, Arlind in particular stepped up with offers of a lift, for at least part of the journey, with the end result that we had almost a complete attendance (Roji – still in Sheffield – and Nita – with a doctor’s appointment – excepted.)
It meant that – at last! – we were able to at least start a runthrough of the play, in order. I did not expect to get to the end, and so it proved, but it did prove very useful; the aim is to complete the run next week. We even did a little – a very little – work on characterisation, which was rather paying lip service to developing ideas on how to play them, but was better than nothing.
We are making real progress at last. It is the tech side o0f the production which is now causing me concern, but WeRESTART are making huge efforts to cover this, as well as in setting up arrangements for the performances.
Chris, it must be very pleasing to see progress after all the hiccups. I do hope we are able to get to the performances 🤞. Good luck as you go forward.
