Which is, of course, a euphemism for shopping, or spending money to feel better; not something I agree with, and not something I enjoy, not as an activity, and certainly not as therapy. But I have recently bought myself a microwave oven, so that I can cook my own food, and needed a non-metallic bowl and plate. Plus some potatoes to cook in it, which, along with butter and cheese, should make for an admirably plain and simple meal, and provide some respite from the all-pervasive spice all food is cooked with here.
I was, however, also on the lookout for something more frivolous (more in keeping with retail therapy, I suppose.) I have decided to take advantage of the relatively cheap tailoring to order myself a jacket. Not a plain one, that I can easily obtain at home, but something rather more special – a sparkly party jacket something I would find very difficult (and expensive) to get in England. However, despite receiving directions to a likely shop, I couldn’t find it; a task for another day. But being in the right general area, I went to Flatland, the café Apekshya had shown me, where I indulged in a wonderful mint and lemon drink.
And that was just about it for the day. Otherwise, I cooked, I read, I wrote: I am still attempting to complete the book of animal poems, in this case a long narrative poem, in rhyme (which always makes the task devilishly difficult), about the crane. It took ages, both in the composition, and then writing it out neatly in the book.
