I cut Val’s hair this morning, + made no ghastly errors, my main aim when embarking on the chore. And then, it now being quite late, we gathered together our goods, chattels, + provisions + wandered across the park in front of the Royal Palace for a picnic. It was pleasant, but I think that, unless one is in the first throes of love, a picnic is better with a larger group. But we munched our cheese sandwiches, played Frisbee, wrote a letter – I did, anyway; I’m in the middle of a long one to Pete – listened to music. But the weather wasn’t wonderful enough just for baking under the sun, so eventually we wandered back to an equally aimless afternoon.
We ate, as ever, at one of Kaosan’s restaurants – the road had undergone a small face-lift since we were last here – + retired with a bottle of Mekong whiskey to the joys of the BBC. There was an entertaining tho’ slight play on, “Mme Main-Course” by Peter Terson. Annoyed later on to be asked to be quiet. One of the disadvantages of a cheap hostelry with hardboard walls, but it was only 9 o’clock. So I finished the day listening to The Who, very loudly… on headphones.
And actually reaching our final day, but pretty much a washout, truth be told. Still, will be on our way again tomorrow.
