Two posters

Both Hamed and Maria have come up with posters for the show.  They are remarkably similar – though it is true that the title does suggest this, as a visual depiction of Hamed’s journey through Europe.  We have decided to use both images more or less interchangeably.

But it does demonstrate that the two performances are now fixed.  I ought to state that, should you read this and be interested in attending, do send me your names (chrisdwalters@hotmail.com) so that I can add you to a guest list.  Both venues have a small performance space, and are not ticketed, so this will reserve your place… but please turn up fifteen minutes before the performance (which is when the house is open to all.)

Another welcome addition to the group is our new sound box, which we can use for both rehearsals and performances.  In fact, we did not really use it today, except to demonstrate its presence (and cause a certain amount of effort lugging it between the car and the clubhouse.)  But we were able to appreciate the quality of the sound it produces; we may not have a sound-track yet – that is coming – but we did hear its impressive bass response (vital when it has to handle the sound of an explosion.)

Plus, of course, we had a rehearsal.  Maria we had given the time off, as she is scarcely in the vital scenes we needed to work on.  And Roji was only present via the phone.  But we sorted out the physical arrangement of the scenes with the migrants walking.  In fact, most of the play has been blocked… though, worryingly, there are two big scenes between Hamed and the Officer (me) which we have never even looked at; Hamed needs to take some time to learn these lines.

But despite everything, and the amount there is still left to do, I am fairly confident all will be well.  This is very much a work-in-progress, both in terms of the writing and the direction, but I am satisfied we will be able to give a good account of ourselves… as well as setting up a fuller, longer, richer production later in the year.
